Tam O Shanter Natural Scottish Sharpening Stone - White Barber Size - CHOOSE YOUR HONE

NOTE: These are new hones, cut and lapped and labelled by us here at GSG from old stock raw stone blocks left over from mining done 50+ years ago. They are offered in sizes never produced by the workshop, are lapped perfectly flat and ready to use immediately and have vintage paper labels from the mine.

Offered here are rare White variety of Tam O Shanter sharpening stones, a piece of history from the original workshop on the Dalmore estate in rural Stair, Scotland.  Characterized by a speckled pattern, these stones exhibit an aesthetically stunning appearance. The white Tam O'Shanter, prized for its ability to achieve "very fine cuts," surpasses the grit rating of ordinary gray Tam O Shanter hones and approaches 12,000 grit. Its applications extend to meticulous edge finishing or the removal of micro blemishes, resulting in extra keen cutting edges. Notably, these stones demonstrate compatibility with razors susceptible to micro-chipping. Employing a slurry enhances the stone's polishing efficiency, elevating the speed at which they perform.
